Characters
Katerina Barsukova
Born in Russia and trained by a European assassin’s agency from the age of 9; her parents were killed by a Russian politician. Her father was a journalist and by including the arms dealing and drug cartel laced within the Russian government, he angered said politician. This resulted in the murder of her father and the abuse and shooting of her mother; all whilst Katarina hid and tried not to watch. An old friend of her father's in Britain, Leo Simmonds, was her only familiar connection left and so living with him was the logical option.
He was engrossed in the art of training young assasins from a facility in London. She started to programme at the age of 10 and progressed quickly. Leo was never considered as a father figure in Katerina's life, but she still thinks highly of him and regards him more like her uncle.
Katarina joined the agency at the early age of 15 and used her young age too her advantage; she got close to her targets before brutally eliminating them. She is determined, emotionless and has no sympathy for others (except Leo). But her main priority is to eventually avenge her parents, and she wouldn't let her love for Leo jeopardise that. She always puts the mission first in roder to perfect her skills and carry out her revenge. She speaks fluent Russian, English, German, Polish and Chinese Mandarin and is learning Czech. She is highly trained in martial arts, her preferred style being street fighting.
Shaun
Shaun is seemingly a common teenager waiting at a bus stop, but his sketchy presence and dodgy look makes him stand out. He works for an organisation distantly involved with Russia's highly secretive Cartel overseas; Katerina's success in removing agents based in England had become a thorn in the organisations' side- Shaun was here to remove said thorn. Having tracked Katerina for a number of months, Shaun takes this opportunity and kidnaps her.
Stanislav Alexdrov
An English Special Agent- working for the assassin agency as Katarina's handler and trainer. Leo adopted and trained Katarina from a young age, but could not replace her father- he took on the role of an uncle. With mixed feelings on whether to help Katerina carry out her revenge; the repurcussions being too dangerous to ignore. But she deserves closure; seeing her violent, unforgiving and relentless nature, standing against her would be costly to his life. 10 years since his last successful assination, and he is the eyes and ears for Katerina. Undesirable assailants never get within 20 metres of his agent without a bullet in the head. Self-manditory combat routine keep him energetic and ready for anything. Arranging assignments for Katarina, liasing with locals and gathering intel on targets occupy his daily duties.
When studying at Moscow university Katerina's father and Leo were very close, and this connection is what drives his loyalty to Katerina. He can therefore speak Russian, English, Czech and Polish.
Cast
Imogen Clamp
Katerina Barsukova
A student at Parkstone Grammar, alongside myself, Imogen Clamp takes A level theatre studies so it was logical for her to be our lead role. Imogen is renowned for her spot on impersonations and appearance on stage we were really hoping she would join us in our project. Her many skills include character building, patience and acting itself, making her an amazing contribution to our film. Not only this, but she also offered her own opinions for certain shots, critiquing her acting and skill. Both my partner and I thought she tackled the role well and the audience will want to see more of her throughout the film.
Mark Johnson
Stanislav Alexandrov
We chose to use Katie’s dad (Mark Johnson) as Stanislav for ease. We were originally going to use my dad because we felt he had the acting ability and typical look of a Russian mafia character, but due to a busy schedule of shift work he was not able to fill the role. However, upon reflection we decided that Katie’s dad also could play Stanislav. As he had a much quieter schedule we decided that he will play Mr. Alexandrov.
Shaun
Luke Labouchardiere
Luke studies media alongside Katie and myself and goes to Poole Grammar, luckily hewas happy to help us in our project. He played Shaun, the creepy character hell bent on taking Katerina down which he pulled off very well. He is also very tall which worked well in making Katerina appear small and vulnerable in later shots. He appeared for filming on two days; one for the alley scene and a second for pick ups.
