September 2015
Having just started in our new media group, class was briefed on the coursework involved within the subject. Not only did we start our blogs in this month, but we also sorted ourselves into groups and started to generate vague ideas for our 2 minute opening.
The groundwork for all blog posts was established- including individual aesthetic style and layout. Our preliminary task was set; with the purpose of introducing us to camera angles and editing.
As a class we were also given the opportunity to speak with a film lecturer from Bournemouth University which broadened our minds on shot composition, editing and script techniques.
October 2015
During October Katie and I shortlisted 3 ideas that we thought could be strong contenders for the plot of our 2 minute opening. This is post researching into our chosen genres, of course. We also had our ideas overviewed by the Bournemouth University lecturer with slight improvements made here and there.
The next two thirds of October was spent fine tuning our plot and starting to compile shots into a list.
November 2015
Having come to a conclusion on what our plot would consist of, my partner and I spent a considerable amount of November creating a script and shotlist: to be fully prepared for filming. Insuring that we had a script pre-filming would help with the flow of filming on the day (and hopefully reduce the amount of stress slightly).
November was also partly used to cast people into our film roles.
December 2015
FILMING MONTH. Having established contact with our cafe of interest, Katie and I set to filming on the 29th Decemeber. Prior to this date, we fine tuned the shot list (having gone through 3 development stages) and reached out to our friends for their help as extras. With a total of 6 extras and 3 main actors we filmed both the cafe and alley scenes within this month.
After checking the shots we obtained from both filming days, Katie and I started roughly putting them together in order.
January 2016
January was spent editing our 2 minute opening and developing our blogs. After cutting clips together and applying transitions between certain shots, Katie and I worked after school and during lunch to fine tune the sound; deciding on an underlining soundtrack, voice over and background noise.
Our IT teacher also checked our rough cut and picked up a view problems which we spent time fixing. Coupled with this was our return to the cafe location for an extremely brief reshoot.
February 2016
Our final 2 minute opening- to an action thriller- has been completed with the rest of February being used to develop our blogs and add as much detail into our research and planning as possible.
