The preliminary task
Create a short, less than a minute long, video investigating camera angles, editing and lighting
Types of shots you can use:
Established shot, close up, match on action, reaction, long shot
What's the point in doing one?
So we can experience the use of different camera shots, before starting our 2 minute opening. Also to investigate how to produce a film that flows and appears professional using a number of techniques.
Brief evaluation
Not only was this exercise beneficial for camera angles and shots, but we also experienced the first insights into editing. Upon evaluation of my preliminary task I can say that the editing needs to be cut quicker and cleaner together. There are delays in between each shot which shows the need for improvement. However, the shots work well together and make the pre-lim look appear natural. This is the effect Katie and I need to successfully convey throughout our 2 minute opening in order to make the film flow and professional.
Using multiple quick camera angles to give the audience a full picture of Rita opening the door and entering the room. We hope to copy this technique with multiple scenes within our film so the audience is not only aware of the main characters, but the environment that the opening is set in.
